Manchester City: History of the fixture
Players We’ve Shared:
In the last decade, we have seen numerous ex Arsenal players pull on the Sky Blue shirt. Emmanuel Adebayor (pictured), is just one of many.
We all remember his running the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the Arsenal supporters at the Etihad. The only problem was, he was a City player at the time.
Recently, we’ve just said goodbye to Samir Nasri, Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy. All three were criticised for leaving the Gunners for the Citizens, some more viciously than others.
Going slightly further back, and you could name Patrick Vieira and Kolo Toure. Again, both have since left Manchester City, and both are now in management roles. Vieira is with City’s sister club, New York FC while Kolo is part of the Ivory Coast set up.

Clive Allen was on the books of Arsenal early on, but is much better known by Londoners as a Spurs player. 53 appearances for City gets him a mention.
Andy Cole, Nicolas Anelka and Eddie McGoldrick are all in my memory of playing for City. Way before my time though was James Buchan. Born in 1881, he was at Woolwich Arsenal for their first ever First Division fixture. He stayed a season, then saw the light and moved to City the next season.
Of course, our best acquisition from Arsenal? Has to be Paul Dickov.
