Manchester City: Should they leave or should they stay?

Jason Denayer
Analysis
Jason Denayer played for Sunderland last season. If that does not tell you how his season went, I don’t know what will. The Belgian centre-back struggled through the season with the bottom feeders, partnering up with the likes of Papy Djilobodji and John O’Shea. As important as first team experiences are, they need to the right kind. Trudging along the pitch with players not up to his potential is only going to halt his progress.

Let us remind you that the Belgian was excellent for Celtic prior to his loan at Sunderland. He spearheaded their double-winning season while being named as Scottish Young Player of the Year and in SPL Team of the Year. He even capped for Belgian squad on the back of this season. However, Man City failed to capitalize on such season. Instead of giving him some game time with Vincent Kompany, he was loaned out to Galatasaray and then Sunderland to make room for Otamendi.
Manchester City is finally ready to give a young centre-back a shot at first team. It is a shame that they could not do the same with Denayer.
Verdict: SELL
Do I think he still can be a great player? Absolutely. Just not at Manchester City. It is clear that he is not a part of Pep’s plan, despite his quality. The Belgian must find a new home and prove City wrong.
