With Joe Hart out on loan in Turin, and Claudio Bravo dropped to the bench. What are the chances of Hart returning to Manchester City in the summer?

It seems unlikely that Joe Hart will be seen in a Manchester City shirt again, given the manner of his departure before the season had even begun. From his comments to the media once he’d settled in Italy, it seems all but decided that he will not return.

"“I said I wanted to work for him and see what happens but I got the impression that it wasn’t really going anywhere. I got the feeling I wasn’t going to play.”"

Hart has been linked to clubs such as Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool and West Ham. Turin was never going to be a long term move for a Goalkeeper of his caliber, and it seems that his representatives are limiting talks to Premier League clubs for now.

So, is this the best move for Pep and Manchester City? The man between the sticks has been a point of contention all season.

Joe Hart has played 22 games for Torino so far this season, in all competitions. Of those, he’s conceded 30 goals and kept 3 clean sheets. By comparison, Claudio Bravo has played 26, conceded 32 and kept 7 clean sheets.

Additionally, Claudio Bravo has been unveiled as “the worst Goalkeeper in the Premier League”, due to a saves per goal ratio of 1.04. However, this doesn’t take into account the fact that Manchester City are rarely under siege, and instead are liable to the counter leaving Bravo facing a 1 v 1, or 1 v 2 situation. Joe Hart by comparison, is at a club 9th in the league in Italy.

"“I trust both, but he played well in the cup, so I decided to give him some opportunities.”"

With Claudio Bravo being dropped for the game against West Ham in favor of Willy Cabellero, the question of just who will be City’s long term Goalkeeper has raised it’s head again as well. Pep Guardiola stated that Cabellero started because “I trust both, but he played well in the cup, so I decided to give him some opportunities.” So only time will tell if it marks a changing of the guard.

Willy Cabellero has been quietly putting in some impressive performances for Manchester City. He has adapted particularly well to Pep’s build from the back style, looking comfortable on the ball when called upon.

It could well be the case that City will look to strengthen in the summer, dependent on how the second half of the season pans out. However, if Pep deems either Bravo or Cabellero surplus to requirements, it seems unlikely that Joe Hart will be welcomed back into the fold.
