After yet another week of defensive failures, Manchester City is being linked with a top Premier League left-back. Could Pep steal away this talent?

Reviving the title-winning form of Leicester City was not the bounce back the defense was looking for. Manchester City have now fallen seven points off the top of the EPL.

As we have covered many times on this site in the past few weeks, Pep needs depth and young blood in the defense. Both the left and right back positions will be addressed during the next two windows.

Pep has a very specific style of play and will be looking for new fullbacks. The Manchester Evening News is reporting that Danny Rose has caught his eye. The Tottenham left back has been quality for the Spurs for the past few seasons.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

As England’s top left back selection, he fits perfectly into Pep’s possession style that needs overlapping. Already in the Champions League, getting Tottenham to part with Rose will be tough.

If Spurs fail to make the top four this season, and City do, then the transfer will be much easier. Rose is estimated to have a transfer value around $20 million.

With John Stones a first-choice England centerback, getting Rose paired with him would greatly benefit City. At only 26 he is at the perfect age to spend the cash on and have a number of years to integrate into Pep’s system.
