Samir Nasir, currently on loan at Sevilla might fancy a move to Manchester City’s sister club New York City FC rather than a lucrative move to China.

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri is currently on loan at La Liga side Sevilla. Unsurprisingly the Frenchman is already earning praise from his new manager Jorge Sampaoli. Of course the loan move means City is still Nasri’s club and any transfer that could take place would be done by the Manchester club.

An interesting rumor comes our way from The Daily Star who are reporting Nasri is intrigued by a move to the MLS and Manchester City’s sister club NYCFC. This despite having a big money offer on the table from China, something not uncommon in today’s game. Players such as Gervinho, Ramires, Jackson Martinez and Hulk are just a few who have opted for the big money the Chinese Super League can offer.

If the reported rumor is true, then Nasri would spurn the wealth of the Chinese League for the bright lights of New York City. After this season in Sevilla, Manchester City will have to decide what to do with the Frenchman. Any transfer taking place between the two clubs should be easy since both are part of the City Football Group.

The only question for Manchester City  fans are will the club honor the Frenchman’s wishes? Supporters might say after his incredible 2013-14 season helping City win a second title, the club should give Nasri what he wants. Others might look more pragmatically at the situation and provided Nasri is successful at Sevilla, perhaps there is some money to be made in the transfer market.

There’s no doubt, even at 30 years old, the French playmaker would be one of, if not the best player in the MLS. Playing for NYCFC would also allow Nasri to stay in the City family, be managed by Patrick Vieira and play alongside David Villa and Andrea Pirlo. Rumors should always be taken with a  grain of salt, but for fans of NYCFC and City Football Group as a whole, this could be exciting times.

Given the reports that Manchester City are willing to let Joe Hart move as he wishes after years of great service, is that something that Samir can expect as well?
