Manchester City 24/25 season will soon get underway when the Women's Super League returns next month, but until then the club will be hoping to secure a trophy in Australia and also keeping their star player Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw fit for the upcoming games.
Manchester City and Jamaica player Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw is ready to return to the pitch and produce another impactful campaign like her former, but after her injury last season which kept her out for the end of the season, the player expressed her concerns about picking up another fateful injury.
"It's mainly about getting minutes (The Australia tour). Some of the players were at the Olympics but those of us that weren't haven't played in a long time. I'm coming off my injury so for me it's about staying healthy, getting minutes first and foremost and then the results will come later."
Man City's top goalscorer then moved on to the new season, where she discussed the team's determination to win a trophy after the disappointment in losing out last season.
"I'm ready! We want to pick up from where we left off last season, Not winning the title on the last day means we want to push even further to ensure that at the end we win the trophy."
"The belief is there and has always been there but off the back of last season, the way we played and how consistent we were, that consistency and the positive results has given us the confidence to know we can do more."
Shaw has proved herself to be a key player within this Man City squad after multiple standout displays during her time at the club. For the 23/24 campaign, Shaw scored 21 goals in just 18 matches played while providing three assists.
While that statistic doesn't compare to the unreal one with 31 goals scored in 30 games for the season before the previous, Bunny Shaw did miss out on many fixtures due to injury which unfortunately kept her out of Man City's crucial end to the season.
If Shaw is able to remain fit and healthy throughout the season, then it could be believed that Man City's chances of attaining at least one honour will have its chances boosted quite highly.
Before then, the Cityzens have landed in Australia for not only a tour given by the club but also an opportunity to win a trophy during their time there.
Manchester City will meet Leicester City on Wednesday in a semi-final fixture in the first-ever edition of The Perth Cup. If the Sky Blues are successful in that encounter, they will move on to play a final against either West ham or Paris Saint-Germain in the next coming days.
