Australia will be the destination for Manchester City's upcoming pre-season Summer tour, with Mary Fowler and Alanna Kennedy set to represent their club in their country and hope to secure a trophy as well.
Manchester City Women's team have announced that they will be travelling over to Australia in a few months, where they will compete in a new tournament named 'The Perth International Football Cup', finding themselves as one of the four partaking clubs who will compete for the inaugural title.
Manchester City will see three other sides participating in this new mini-competition, two very familiar opponents Leicester City and West ham and one not-so-familiar with Paris Saint-Germain.
The tournament will consist of a total of four fixtures, two semi-finals, one third-place off and then, of course, the final.
Here are the officially announced dates for The Perth Cup
Semi-Final One: Manchester City vs Leicester City - 28th of August, Wednesday.
Semi-Final Two: PSG vs West ham - 29th of August, Thursday.
Third-place playoff: semi-final One loser vs semi-final Two loser - 1st of September, Sunday.
Final: Semi-final One winner vs semi-final Two winner - 1st of September, Sunday.
Winning this newly made silverware would be a great start to the season for Man City, who will be hoping to have more of a successful season than the last.
While the Cityzens did very well in the 23/24 season in terms of being involved in all three competitions until very late, disappointingly for them they were not able to secure a single trophy to show for their hard work.
The Women's Super League came ever-so-close for Manchester City, as even though they ended the campaign on the same amount of points as Chelsea, it was goal difference and a thrashing of Manchester United on the final day that led to Chelsea lifting the WSL trophy ahead of Man City.
This season, City will require a mixture of the former season's fighting mentality and better results produced by the team, which will benefit them in the long run. It's also to be remembered that Man City will feature in the Champions League, after claiming second spot in the WSL last season. So overall, Manchester City will attempt to win a trophy out of a possible four.
But all their attention will be on the Australian tour, which will be a good way to start off their club football again and prepare for what they will hope will be a flourishing trophy-filled season.
