Manchester City's second game in the Women's Super League ended in a 1-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion, giving the Sky Blues three points to end the second matchday.

After starting their Women's Super Lague campaign with a 2--2 draw against Arsenal, Man City turned attention to their second leg of the UEFA Women's Champions League qualifier with Paris FC.

The Cityzens had already beaten Paris FC 5-0 in the first meeting between the pair, making the second leg of the tie look pretty much formality for Man City. The second game was just as easy as the first, with Many City adding three goals to their already comfortable aggregate, finishing the tie-off with a score of 8-0.

Manchester City's attacking power was in full force, with five different players getting their names on the scoresheet throughout the tie, braces coming for Jess Park, Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw and Chloe Kelly, with Vivienne Miedema and Mary Fowler also finding the back of the net.

Moving on to the weekend, where Man City shifted focus back to the English League, Brighton and Hove Albion awaited the team.

While not the thrashing scoreline Paris C had to endure, Man City got the job done against Brighton, defeating them 1-0 thanks to a goal from top-scorer Khadija Shaw right before halftime.

Manchester City came out of matchday two in fifth place with four points, with Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal in front; The Blues and Red Devils both on six points and Arsenal and Spurs on four like Man City.

Gareth Taylor on Women's Super League win

The Man City manager was pleased with the performance played by his squad, as he said "They're very good and very well trained, you can see that (Brighton and Hove Albion). I think we needed high energy in our team to stop them playing, if you sit back, they'll pick out that extra player in midfield and then at the backline before you know it."

"We limited them to not many opportunities, a couple in the first half, we started the second half well and it looked like a matter of time before we got a second. The longer it doesn't start to be a little bit edgy, but the players were pretty calm and composed, they managed the game well in the final few minutes."

Another exciting moment came when Jill Roord made her long-awaited comeback to the pitch, after her disappointing ACL injury which has kept her out since January. She returned against Brighton and everyone will be hoping to see further contributions as the games go on.
