Manchester City will be spending their boxing day trying to surpass their next Premier League task, which comes against Everton.
Manchester City have seen their form go from bad to worse this season so far, losing nine of their last 12 games and only winning one of those 12.
They are currently seventh in the Premier League, four points behind the top four, eight away from second and 12 from first-placed Liverpool. The 24/25 season hasn't lived up to the standard that this Man City club have created for themselves, but they will be determined to get things back on track on boxing day.
Elsewhere, Everton are 15th in the League after only three wins, six losses and seven draws. The Merseyside club are only four points off the relegation zone, meaning achieving more victories will be vital for them if they are to remain out of the danger ranking.
Manchester City's last match was against Aston Villa last weekend, and they lost 2-1. After the loss, Pep Guardiola expressed his disappointment with the result but also mentioned he didn't know what to do due to not having a defence. However, the manager still remains positive about the Sky Blues, continuing to mention all the incredible things the team have achieved in the last few seasons.
During his pre-match conference, Guardiola shared thoughts ahead of the Everton game and even provided an update on some absent Man City players.
Pep Guardiola ahead of Everton
"Sean Dyche teams always have a really good defensive structure, really good patterns defensively and offensively.
"If they (Everton) can do it against Arsenal and Chelsea it means they are really good (0-0 with Arsenal and Chelsea). They have good transitions and of course, set pieces, they are really strong."
"I don't need to live in this situation to admire and appreciate the challenges of every club. Every manager at a club has one target. Maybe one day Sean Dyche will manage a big, big club and it will be another challenge."
"It doesn't mean when he was at Burnley, now at Everton and doing what he has done (wasn't good). You give them a lot of credit."
"They are maybe fifth across the top five leagues in Europe, they're one of the best in terms of clean sheets. I mean they work really well."
"If he could not play the second half at Villa it is because he wasn't ready, we'll see," Pep told about John Stones.
He then moved on to discuss Ederson and Matheus Nunes, "We train this afternoon (Tuesday) and will see how many players we have available. At the moment I don't know."
