Manchester City’s women’s team have a month of March filled with crucial fixtures, where results will prove vital for their season.
Manchester City have returned from the international break, and have a set of league games to look forward to.
During February, City claimed three wins out of four. They had a massive triumph against rivals Chelsea, 5-1, then a 6-0 result in their meeting with Leicester City, and in the FA Cup, they were impressive against Sheffield, 4-0 being the scoreline. They did miss out on points to Arsenal, who gave them a 1-0 defeat.
Overall, Man City are in a very good placement in this campaign. They seem incredibly likely to go on and win the WSL, as they are eight points ahead of Manchester United, but will still have to remain in form to gain victories.
In the FA Cup, there is still a while to go, but they’ll be considered to have a high probability when they take on Birmingham in April.
For now, they will aim for results in three league games, and if they are successful, surely the title will be theirs.
Let’s take a look at City’s matches this month.
Manchester City’s schedule for March
Aston Villa vs Manchester City - Sunday, the 15th at 11:55 (UK)
Manchester City vs Tottenham - Saturday, the 21st at 12:00 (UK)
Manchester United vs Manchester City - Saturday, the 28th at 13:30 (UK)
Beginning with Villa, who during their last encounter were defeated 6-1 by the Cityzens, it will be very key for both sides. While City attempt to keep their lead, for Aston Villa, they are looking to avoid potential relegation.
Then, Tottenham. Despite having a big chance of claiming a top-three finish after a well-worked term so far, they weren't able to give Man City a proper task last time, and 5-1 was the result that favoured City.
To end the month, it will be the Manchester derby. A massive one, especially since in this moment, they are the top two of the WSL. United will be doing everything to somehow lessen the gap, and City will have to bring the same energy that got them a 3-0 victory in their prior meeting.
An essential few weeks for Manchester City that will either strengthen or weaken their Women’s Super League stance.
