Manchester City’s women’s team have a big month ahead of them, where they’ll be participating in two competitions.
Manchester City’s women arrive in February in contention for multiple honours, such as the Women’s Super League and the FA Cup.
Last month, a batch of positive results, such as a 2-0 and 2-1 win against Everton and London, means they lead their WSL with a big point gap over Chelsea. In the FA Cup, they began their campaign with a 6-0 triumph against Bournemouth. And, after an encounter with Chelsea in the FA League Cup, they were defeated and missed out on getting a place in the final, but despite this, they remain in good form elsewhere.
As they compete for the Women’s Super League and FA Cup, there will be four matches coming up for the Cityzens, and they will be crucial in their bid for success.
In the WSL, City do have a rather large lead, especially after some of Chelsea’s results went in their favour, while alongside getting themselves wins, so they’ll just have to build on this amazing effort. But Chelsea are far from ruled out, so it will require all of their effort to keep the gap.
In the FA Cup, there is a long way to go, as Manchester City have just started their commitment in the contest. But they’ll be aiming to bring their form into this as well and properly have a go against their opponents.
Let’s take a look at the list of matches for Man City.
Manchester City’s Schedule
Manchester City vs Chelsea - Sunday, the 1st at 14:30 (UK) WSL
Arsenal vs Manchester City - Sunday, the 8th at 12:00 (UK) WSL
Manchester City vs Leicester City - Friday, the 13th at 19:00 (UK) WSL
Manchester City vs Sheffield United - Sunday, the 22nd at 14:00 (UK) FA CUP
Beginning in February with a meeting with their biggest opposition, Chelsea. This will be quite the match for both clubs as they attempt to win the league. Their last two encounters ended with a Chelsea win. If City can get the result they are looking for, this would make it a 12-point edge, but if it goes the way of the Blues, then it gives them something to work on.
After that, still in the Women’s Super League, Man City take on another big rival in Arsenal. While City’s intention is clear, for their opponent, they are looking for the top three, alongside Manchester United and Tottenham.
Their last WSL game comes as a task against the currently in danger side, Leicester City. Despite being a few placements away from relegation, Leicester have found themselves near Liverpool, West ham and Everton, the sides who are potentially going for elimination. This will be a big ask of them, and Manchester City will have to make the most of this.
Then it's the FA Cup, where Man City will have a fixture with Sheffield United, and a win here would take them into the next round.
This will be another decisive selection of games for Manchester City, but if they gain victories, it will be a truly positive boost in their quest for achievement.
