Vinícius Júnior's previous contract talks with Real Madrid have stalled. His current deal expires in June 2027. There is expected to be crunch talks this summer, which could lead to Los Blancos deciding to cash in on one of their star players.
The Brazilian has been linked with several teams across the world recently, including Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Al-Nassr. Now Manchester City are reportedly interested in the player.
According to TEAMtalk, "the Premier League champions are closely monitoring his situation at Real Madrid and with an explosive exit from the Bernabeu now a genuine possibility this summer."
Would Vinícius Júnior be a good fit for Manchester City?
It appears that City may have missed their chance of winning the Premier League this season after dropping points against Everton last time out. Pep Guardiola's future at the club has been uncertain recently, but he will want to go out on a high note of winning the league.
This could lead to Guardiola staying for at least another season to win the Premier League once more. Signing Vinícius could be like when Sir Alex Ferguson recruited Robin van Persie from Arsenal to win the division once more before he retired.
If Vinicius were to arrive at the Etihad Stadium, it would be a huge statement of intent. City have been able to pay for the biggest talents across Europe since the Abu Dhabi United Group bought the club. One of their first notable signings was Robinho from Real Madrid, and Vinícius could follow in his path.
Robinho was not that successful at City as he did not win anything, went on loan to his former club Santos, before joining AC Milan permanently. City will be expecting to get more out of Vinícius, especially now that the club is a far more well-oiled machine than the one that Robinho joined in 2008.
Vinicius should be a great option for City on the wing, and he would also be able to fill in at center-forward on the rare occasions when Erling Haaland is not firing. Savinho has not had the best of seasons at City, and his future at the club is uncertain. This would mean that Vinícius will likely be competing with Jeremy Doky for a starting spot on the left flank.
It is too soon for Vinícius to go to the Saudi Pro League. Whilst he has been linked with other top European clubs, City would appear to be his best bet for continuing to add to his trophy cabinet.
