Jill Roord on 23/24 WSL ” We have quality and ambition “

Manchester City’s big summer signing, Jill Roord, has spoken ahead of the club’s upcoming season, which is set to begin on the 1st, October.

Manchester City are attempting to claim the WSL ( Women’s Super League ) trophy this 23/24 season, and the FA Cup, after not being able to win any honour last term.

Dutch superstar, Jill Roord officially signed for Man City on a three-year deal from Wolfsburg and became City’s most expensive signing in their history.

Speaking ahead of her new season with her new club, Roord has discussed her and the team’s mindset in preparations for the WSL, ” The ambition is to win. We want to win the League. In England, it’s not easy, because there are four, maybe more teams fighting to win. We have the quality and ambition. so that’s what we’re going for.”

Next, the 26-year-old midfielder moved on to give her thoughts on her own upcoming season, in which she assured, ” I want to be important for my team and develop here. It’s a new step and a new way of playing. I hope to be important for City and do successful things. It is good to be here.”

The new Man City No.20 then couldn’t help but express her excitement to get started as she said, ” I’m super excited to start the league! The league has developed much more from when I left ( Arsenal ).

Roord also commented on the growth on Women’s football around the world, saying, “Quality-wise, there are so many good players but also everything around it, the popularity of the game, which for me as player is exciting!”

Jill Roord is currently partaking in international duty alongside fellow City teammate Kerstin Caspariji with the Netherlands, who are involved in the first-ever Women’s Nations League.
