Manchester City plotting a sensational move for Bundesliga star

Manchester City seem to be keen on reinforcing their midfield and are planning to land Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria in the upcoming winter window , The Mirror understands.

Zakaria, 25, has been quite a revelation for the Bundesliga side with consistent performances in the midfield. Borussia Monchengladbach though haven’t been able to live up to their standards dwelling in the lower middle table with 19 points from 17 matches.

The Swiss International though isn’t keen on extending his contract with the Bundesliga outfit and has his options ahead of him. Many elite clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Chelsea, are also in contention to sign the 25-year-old.

The source further adds that Zakaria is entering the final phase of his contract with Monchengladbach and the German-based club is keen on selling the Swiss international for a nominal transfer fee in January rather than letting him leave on a Bosman at the end of this season.

Manchester City have been brilliant this season with their consistent performances week after week. The league leaders are a solid 11 points clear of second-placed Chelsea and 12 points clear of third-placed Liverpool who face each other in a massive clash at Stamford bridge to kick start their 2022.

The star-studded Manchester City side is restricted to a handful of options in the defensive midfield area with only Rodri and Fernadinho in the ranks. The latter though is tipped to bid farewell to his stellar career at the Etihad at the end of this season with his contract expiring in June 2022.

Denis Zakaria would be a perfect fit for Guardiola, especially with his attacking instincts coming into play. The 27-year-old even scored twice and assisted once this season and will be eager to stamp his authority in the Premier League if given a chance.
