Former Arsenal skipper, Pierre-Emmerick Aubameyang seems to be on the radar of Manchester City, especially with the Gabon national’s future with the English club in disarray, MEN understands.
Aubameyang, 32, has been enjoying an impressive start to this season with a G/A of 9 from 15 (14 Premier League+1 Carabao Cup) appearances for the Gunners.
The Arsenal skipper has been vital in the Gunners’ rise from the roadblock they hit in the initial stages of this season, losing 3 matches on the trot conceding 9 goals, and scoring none. Four months later, the Gunners are currently in the fourth spot with 29 points from 17 league fixtures.
Aubameyang was stripped of his captaincy after being dropped from the squad for the Brentford clash.
Arsenal manager Arteta, when asked about the decision stated that
"“The decision we have taken as a club is very clear,”“It is because we believed that he has failed to be committed at the level we all expect and agreed. It’s as simple as that.”“What I expect from any person in this football club, that is representing this badge, his passion and that he gives absolutely 100 percent, that he puts the club in front of any personal interests.”“You can listen to individuals and understand different cultures, but that commitment and passion have to be there. Unfortunately, it wasn’t.”Source: The Telegraph"
The defending champions are said to be in contention for landing the Ex-Arsenal skipper. However, the deal is not going to be a straightforward one with Chelsea’s boss Thomas Tuchel and Spanish Giants, FC Barcelona keen on the Gabon striker.
Having said that, will Guardiola pick a 32-year-old into his side is what will decide if City do decide to go for him.
Cityzens are said to be the front runners for Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic and in the race for Borussia Dortmund Starlet Erling Haaland. Hiring an aging striker is looking highly unlikely with Guardiola being the one who always has an eye on the long run.
So, will Manchester City bid for Aubameyang with the January window in the touching distance?
