According to recent reports, Serie A outfit Genoa, under new boss Andriy Shevchenko, are targeting a host of players to improve their squad. This includes a certain defender from Manchester City.

The player in question is Manchester City ace Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Shevchenko has been given the task to get Genoa back into Europe but this is almost an impossible challenge considering his side is currently sitting just above the relegation zone in 17th.

He however has been promised by the owners that investment will be made to boost his new squad and will sell the deadwood to reduce the size of the currently bloated squad.

The legendary striker-turned-manager is currently looking at two high-profile signings for his club. Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic and Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Being from the same country, Shevchenko might be able to convenience Zinchenko to leave the Etihad and shift to Italy for his new project. Shevchenko will also be relying on his five-year stint as the manager of the Ukraine national team and the bond he formed with Zinchenko at that time.

Zinchenko is currently struggling to get minutes at the Etihad, especially with Joao Cancelo being in the form of his life, a fact backed by his performances against arch-rivals Manchester United.

Zinchenko becomes the latest Manchester City player to be linked to a move away from the club, joining a host of players including Raheem Sterling, John Stones, and Bernardo Silva.

Can we see Zinchenko leave the club in the upcoming transfer window? What would you like to do if you were in Pep Guardiola’s position? If you will sell; how much would you ask Genoa for Zinchenko?  And if Zinchenko does leave, who should Manchester City sign as a replacement for the Ukrainian? Do let us know in the comments below.
