According to recent reports, Manchester United are admirers of Manchester City starlet and this interest from a rival has made Manchester City ‘uneasy’, with the blues growing increasingly worried about losing a promising talent to arch-rival.

The player in question is Manchester City’s starlet  James McAtee.

Manchester City have one of the best youth academies in England right now and have academy stars fighting for a spot in Pep Guardiola’s eleven. Due to this, Manchester City are working hard to tie these players up to new long-term deals.

Striker Liam Delap and recent breakout star Cole Palmer both recently committed their futures to the club until 2026, however, McAtee is still yet to sign an extension with Manchester City.

The 19-year-old made his senior debut in the 6-1 Carabao Cup win over Wycombe Wanderers and has been putting up some really impressive performances in the Under-23s over the last year and a half.

However, with this contract set to expire at the end of the season potential suitors like Manchester United and Liverpool have already started circling him.

Reports suggest that Manchester City have already declined one offer from Brighton over the summer and are not yet too concerned that he won’t eventually put pen to paper on a new deal, but Pep Guardiola would like the club to get it sorted as quickly as possible.

What do you think the club should do? Should they let McAtee leave for Manchester United and see him succeed at another club? Or should they put in a new contract on the table for McAtee as soon as possible and fulfil all his wishes? Or should they let McAtee leave, but on a fee rather than on free and possibly include a buy-back fee clause in the contract?
