According to recent reports, Manchester City’s transfer target, the Serbian sharpshooter Dusan Vlahovic has rejected a contract renewal offer at his club Fiorentina.

Following their failed pursuit of English striker Harry Kane, Manchester City turned their eyes to other talented strikers across Europe like Erling Haaland, Robert Lewandowski, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Dusan Vlahovic. However, they failed to secure a marquee forward signing last summer.

After Sergio Aguero left Etihad for Camp Nou, Manchester City have been struck in a rather precarious position in the forward department.

But while City have been able to manage without a proper forward, playing a false nine formation using different players in that role, in many games their lack of a proper forward has created problems. These included games like the one against PSG recently.

However, the club may have just been handed a major transfer boost as one of their biggest transfer targets, Dusan Vlahovic, has rejected a contract offer from Fiorentina.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Dusan Vlahovic’s proposed new contract talks with Fiorentina have officially ‘collapsed’.

Romano provides comments from Fiorentina president Rocco B. Commisso, who has explained, “(Dusan) Vlahovic has not accepted our huge contract extension proposal. We’ve been trying for months, but it’s over.”

Rumored to be valued at around 70 million Euros, the Serbian’s price will now drop and can probably be bought for cheaper in January or next summer.

While City still have the option for other striking options such as Erling Haaland – whose contract has a 75 million Euros release clause, they might go for the Serbian given his cut-out price.

It will be interesting to see who Pep Guardiola chooses to pursue next summer. Whether it will be Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, Dusan Vlahvoic, or someone else altogether.

Who do you think Pep should go for if he does go for someone?
