According to recent reports, Manchester City sent scouts to the mid-game Uefa Champions League game to gather information on Harry Kane’s alternative Uruguayan wonderkid Darwin Nunez.

Darwin netted twice against Spanish giants FC Barcelona and pilled pressure on underfire manager Ronald Koeman. The 22-year old Nunez, who also plays for his national team Uruguay, has scored six goals in seven games this season for Benfica and has looked in great form for the Portuguese outfit.

Manchester City have been linked with him for months now, as their ongoing search for a striker goes on with Harry Kane deciding to stay with Tottenham.

Darwin Nunez just adds to the list of strikers Manchester City have been linked with. This list includes, but is not limited to,  Victor OsimhenAmine Gouiri, Erling Haaland,  Kylian MbappeMikel OyarzabalPiere-Emrick Aubameyang, Dusan Vlahovic, Raul Jiminez and even Benjamin Sesko.

The 22-year-old Nunez joined Benfica from Spanish outfit Almeira in September 2020, and has now scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions during his first season with the Primeira Liga club.

He is very versatile and is capable of playing not only as a center-forward but also on wings. In the game against Barcelona, Nunez actually started on the wing.

However, if Manchester City want to sign Darwin Nunez they will have to fight with clubs like Manchester United, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Leeds United, Leicester City, Southampton, and Chelsea.
