The Midfield
Rodri
It was interesting to watch this display from Rodri as he seemed to pop up in all areas of the pitch. Protected his back line well and interlinked well between the defence and attack. There were his dribbling and passing skills on show too as he controlled the space on the pitch. Is beginning to look like a significant steal from Atletico Madrid and it is clear to see why they were so annoyed to lose him last Summer.

Kevin De Bruyne
In midweek his passing radar was off but he gave a display of selfless running. Today against Watford we had a complete De Bruyne display for us to marvel at. He steered past the assist record of Ozil in the Premier League as a result of his measured passing and threatened to unlock goals every time he touched the ball. His assists were exquisite as the ball was placed in exactly the right position, with just the correct amount of curl to take them past the defence. His goal was sublime, as he struck a shot so hard it almost seemed for a moment as though it had lodged in the stantion at the back of the net.

David Silva
Silva looked rejuvenated after his short break and danced around in the gaps which appeared in the Watford team. Positionally Watford committed a cardinal sin by allowing those gaps between their players to be huge, making the task of Silva somewhat easier as a result. Still he toyed with the Watford team, always on the front foot and always searching for an opening. Scoring inside the first minute set the tone of the whole game and it was refreshing to see him still carving out opportunities some 60 minutes later. His dedication to the task even created opportunities for others as he set up Bernardo Silva.
