Manchester City: Who’s in Contention for Player of the Season So Far?
By Dan Larsen
Things are continuing to look up at Manchester City Football Club!
City made a dramatic comeback against Swansea City in the Quarterfinal of the FA Cup on Saturday. Despite two awful defensive moments in the first half, City were able to claw their way back and make it to the Semi-final of the FA Cup for the second time in three seasons under Manager Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City enter the final international break not only with a realistic chance to exceed any of single season achievements they’ve had in their 125 year history, but to achieve feats that few clubs ever have.
City have a realistic shot at becoming just the second ever English side (the other was Manchester United in 1998-99 who won the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League), to win a treble (three trophies in a season). They could become the first English team ever to win a domestic treble. Even the extremely improbable feat of winning a quadruple remains alive as City enter the final weeks of the season.
The team has played at an incredible level this year as I discussed in this piece last week. But who have the stand out performers been? Who’s in the conversation for Manchester City’s player of the season?
Let’s take a look at the four players who’ve stood out the most so far starting with David Silva.
