Fernandinho

Controlled the midfield pretty well today without hitting top gear. He broke up the Everton attacks every time by one means or another. Got a yellow card after 3 fouls which was probably about right. We need another option to cover Fernandinho as he is beginning to defy the laws of aeging.

Player Rating 8

David Silva

A somewhat subdued performance. The expected link up with Sane on the left hand side never really happened which was disappointing because it is mouthwatering when it happens. There have been three or four subdued performances now which is a concern and may indicate it is time for a rest.

Player Rating 7

Ilkay Gundogan

He does still have a tendency to slow our play down but has good skill and vision. He has come in for some prolonged criticism from fans but is rapidly earning a deserved starting berth in our side. Getting back to his best for us – which was probably at home against Barcelona a couple of seasons ago.
