Man City Square considers the Manchester City player performances in the Premier League away win at Everton and selects one player as the Man of the Match
The Keeper and the Defence

Ederson
Continues to be the coolest player on the pitch. The City fans joke that he must be cold blooded like a reptile. Was called into action once following a mistake by Kyle Walker and he spotted the danger and raced out of his area to sweep up. His kicking was great today to relieve the pressure upon City.

Kyle Walker
Getting better. Still prone to lapses of concentration which can catch out those behind him. Occasionally careless in his distribution. It is like he is playing with some fear about being caught out or making a mistake and it hinders his ability to express his performance with freedom. I tend to think he looks better alongside his friend John Stones who always seems willing to assist.

John Stones
Everton attempted to target him in possession, closing him down and cutting off access to other players as though believing he would panic. This did not happen and instead Stones proved solid and reliable. He always found an outlet and was happy to stride out from defence when it was needed, helping create overloads in midfield.

Nicolas Otamendi
Exactly what we needed to deal with the predicted aerial onslaught. Otamendi was not really required to pass the ball but to win first and second balls which he did well. He has improved so much as a player in recent seasons.

Aymeric Laporte
Playing as a left back again where he perhaps least comfortable, but offers some solidity to our defence. Assured in his passing and a good reader of the game. Was involved in a continual battle with the Everton players but came out on top. Scored a fantastic header to get us on our way and should have had another.
