Which Players Missed Out?

Firstly, the Young Player of the year 2018, Leroy Sane. With his blistering pace and quick feet Leroy tore apart opposition defences with glee. He played a remarkable 49 games in all competitions scoring 14 goals and getting an impressive 19 assists. At just 22 years of age this was a fantastic return for a young player.

Secondly, Raheem Sterling – who may continue to the butt of the boos of deluded fans just because he is both black and wealthy, and had the audacity to leave Liverpool to further his career. Sterling’s return in our brilliant 2017/18 was unprecedented and set himself up against the brightest and best players in the world. In an incredible season he raised his game under the careful gaze of Pep Guardiola. He played a total of 46 games and scored 23 goals and assisted 17. He is still only 23 years of age. The only downside is every nomination for a prestigious award may just push up his wage demands. Oh Raheem, lets just pay him some more.

Finally there is an other player who has been erroneously missed from the list – the sublime David Silva. He had a difficult season due to the premature birth of his son but put that aside every time he stepped on the pitch. Despite not eating or sleeping and flying regularly between hospital in Span and Manchester Silva put in some fantastic performances. His numbers were brilliant. He played a total of 40 games across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and notching 14 assists.

Now we all know the award will be won by someone else, but our 5 players should be serious contenders. Quite how only 2 players who took part in our record breaking season were nominated whilst 4 from Liverpool side who won nothing potentially renders the whole thing a sorry debacle. I wish we could say no one likes us and we don’t care but its not true. Each and every slight is both annoying and painful for the supporters to bear, but we soldier on. Onwards to the next game and the next scintillating display of football and hopefully, ever closer to the next trophy.

Well done to all at Manchester City, for the nomination’s we have are a fantastic reflection on the whole club.
