Manchester City Players Nominated for 2018 Ballon d’Or Best Player Awards

Why Are So Few Manchester City Players Nominated for Awards?
As Manchester City fans we already know that our famous football club enjoyed the best ever season in 2017/18 in Premier League history. Under the guidance of Pep Guardiola our team tore up the impenetrable English league playing an unprecedented style of play which just so happened to deliver the best statistics ever amassed by a team.
Its probably no surprise then that a couple of Manchester City players have been nominated for the prestigious Ballon d’Or awards in recognition of their scintillating form in 2017/18. The French Magazine have run these awards since 1956 and previous winners for the last 10 years have always been either Messi or Ronaldo. Famously Fifa have previously backed this awards ceremony but in recent years this has changed with Fifa pursuing their own best player awards and recently hosting an event in London confirming Luca Modric as the recipient of the 2018 award.
Allegedly Fifa has attempted to issue some kind of 3 line whip to get players to respect and take part in their awards system whilst simultaneously trying to smother the Ballon d’Or by removing its oxygen. Of course that doesn’t sound like Fifa does it? Anyway, the 2018 Ballon d’Or awards initially list the 30 nominated players and eventually this will be whittled down to a single winner who will be announced at a gala dinner in December 2018.
So who has made the short list? Well for Manchester City Sergio Aguero, our World Class 30 year old striker and friend of Lionel Messi has been nominated. Last year his stats were impressive he played 39 times for Manchester City and scored 30 goals in all competitions, even earning himself a place on the Premier League team of the year.
Our other nominee is the fabulous Kevin de Bruyne, our world class midfield maestro. He has had a fantastic season leading our team to consummate glory and delivering two trophies. This taslismanic figure will shortly return from a knee ligament injury and we cannot wait to get a tantalising glimpse of him back in blue again. Last season he played 52 games, scoring 12 goals and getting 21 assists. His quality and range of passing is a joy to behold.
If anything the surprise for me is that those are the only Manchester City players on the list – looking at the list of nominees announced , there are probably 3 players who I think have unfairly missed out on a nomination.
