Manchester City: League Cup hot shots
5) David White – 11
Being at City in the time of no success, David certainly enjoyed this competition, coming on as a substitute away to Southend for his debut. He would start the replay a few days later as well as the next round away to Arsenal, but didn’t score.
His first League Cup goals came at home to Watford the following season, scoring a brace in the 3-1 win. Sandwiched in there were his three goals against Huddersfield, and the 5-1 win against United (both in the League).
Being sold to Leeds United, his final League Cup goal came in a 1-0 win at home to Chelsea in the third round of the 1993/94 season. He played his final home game in this competition, in a 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
