An interesting article on the BBC website analysed the way Burnley have played away from home this season. As I have said previously, they have visited Spurs, Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool so far this season, and are undefeated.

Eight of their points have come away from Turf Moor, something they struggled with last season. That said, it’s not like they have dominated those games.

They have still been second best statistic wise and actually have faced attacking pressure. In Ben Mee (ex City) and James Tarkowski you have two defenders willing to put their bodies on the line.

In that same article it shows that Burnley have faced 107 shots. Of those 107, only 24 hit the target. By that, obviously it doesn’t mean resulted in goals necessarily. 43 of the 107 shots were blocked with 57 of the total coming from outside the area.

What I take from that, and where City have the advantage over sides Burnley have faced before, is that the recent majority of our goals have come after opening up the defensive shape of the opponent. Delph and Fernandinho aside, we really haven’t scored many, or even tried, many from outside the area.
