Is Claudio Bravo out and Willy Caballero now in for Manchester City? Perhaps that’s what should happen.
People are fixating on whether Gabriel Jesus will push Sergio Aguero out of Manchester City, but the real story is if Willy Caballero takes over the main job in goal for Claudio Bravo.

The Argentine shot-stopper started the last two matches, conceding no goals. Nothing has passed Caballero in 356 minutes, according to Sky Sports.
Compared to the porous Bravo (28 in 26 matches), Caballero looks like a stable option to hold down the fort for the remainder of the season.
Ex-City fullback Danny Mills added fuel to the speculation, saying, “The problem at Manchester City is most teams have a No. 1 and a No. 2 but I think they have two one and a halves. They’re not quite sure.
“Bravo was brought in to be the playmaker and clearly made some disastrous errors that cost City at times…
“Even when he (Caballero) has been asked to play in cup competitions when Joe Hart was there, he’s never really let the team down.
“He’s always been very steady. Maybe now, if he keeps getting clean sheets, it’s his opportunity to get the number one jersey.”
Mills has a point. Whether behind Joe Hart or the now embattled Bravo, Caballero has been the consummate professional. Taking whatever his minutes are in stride, he’s played solid for City since 2014.

Maybe that loyalty should be rewarded. After all, the squad has played well in the last two matches with Caballero between the sticks. There clearly is a boost in spirits ahead of a the weekend’s Swansea City fixture. Having a keeper the lads can rely on takes the pressure off and grants them the leeway to play more carefree. The recent results, with the introduction of the exciting Jesus, reflect the change in morale.
With Hart exiled, Bravo a profound disappointment, Caballero deserves the chance to play more and perhaps permanently earn the No. 1 spot. Pep Guardiola should give him it.
