John Stones

Manchester City’s summer long interest in the England star finally ended with an eye-watering £47.5 million transfer from Everton. The deal makes Stones the second most expensive defender in footballing history.

Stones has made an impressive start to his City career and all the signs point to the deal being excellent business.

At just 22, the ball-playing centre-back could star for years to come and looks the perfect partner for Vincent Kompany in the heart of defence.

Additionally, further defensive reinforcements include Spaniard Pablo Mari, a 22 year-old full-back arriving from Tarragona.
