The Women’s Super League had its fifth match weekend, where there were some big games and some massive results took place.
The Women’s Super League’s fifth match weekend has taken place, as the 12 clubs made their attempt to claim the crucial wins.
The week before, Manchester City were 4-1 winners over London, Arsenal had a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa, Chelsea got a 4-0 victory against West ham, and Tottenham did the same by getting a 2-1 over Leicester City, while Manchester United got a 2-0 win against Liverpool.
While Chelsea were still sole leaders after those outcomes, due to their opponents' positive results thus far, they'd also have to keep gaining points to remain that way. And for the other competitors, despite having Chelsea leading the way, they weren't t far off and would be able to make their way over to first if they carried on claiming the wins.
Going into these matches, there were some big standouts, including Manchester City vs Arsenal and Manchester United vs Chelsea.
There are more fixtures coming up, but it will be the last match weekend for three weeks as the international break arrives for the women.
The current standings see all these sides very close and all aiming to get to first. With it being so early in the season just yet, every result is crucial to remain as contenders for the WSL.
