The UEFA Super Cup match took place on Wednesday, featuring the battle between Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain and Europa League winners Tottenham.
The Super Cup was played out this week, where two of Europe's biggest competitions' winners from last season attempted to secure another major European title to their name.
For Paris Saint-Germain, they were looking to add to their Champions League victory, which they secured a few months ago after a 5-0 demolition of Inter Milan. They were heavy favourites going into this fixture to win this trophy.
Tottenham were aiming to complete a massive job and as result claim the title. They were successful in the European League after a 1-0 win over Premier League side Manchester United. While they went into this latest matchup as underdogs, after they proved themselves in the Europa League, they couldn't be underestimated.
As the game got started, there wasn't an outright stronger side. Paris Saint-Germain dominated possession, but Tottenham were superior with chances.
The deadlock was broken right before half-time, and it was Mickey Van de Van for Tottenham, giving them the 1-0 lead going into the break.
As the second half started, it wasn't too long before another goal was found, and it did come to quite a bit of shock as it was Tottenham who got themselves a 2-0 lead.
A surprising scoreline, but one that Tottenham would have been extremely happy with, especially since there were only 10 minutes left to go.
In the 85th minute, Lee Kang-in made it 2-1, getting his team back into it with a fighting chance.
While it did seem as that mayble that goal might not have been enough, in added time and only two minutes of play remaining, Paris Saint-Germain secured the equaliser and made it 2-2.
As no extra 30 minutes would be played, it was a straight penalty shootout to choose the winner.
The end result was 4-3, and the winners of the Super Cup were Paris Saint-Germain. An incredible match which showed us just why they're champions of Europe.
