Manchester City met Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final over the weekend, where they were defeated 1-0 as they missed out on the trophy.

Manchester City's hopes for the FA Cup title were diminished by their fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace in this year's FA Cup final, meaning the Cityzens end the campaign without the FA Cup, the Premier League, the Champions League and the Carabao Cup.

Despite many difficulties playing out for them, a recent batch of good performances saw City as favourites to claim the FA Cup over the Eagles.

However, despite a strong start for Manchester City and a rather slow one for their opponents, it was Crystal Palace's Eze who put his side up 1-0 in the 16th minute, leaving City with work to do.

The match saw only one goal scored, and that one goal was the winning goal for Crystal Palace to become the 2025 FA Cup winners, while City were left deflated.

The result also means that Palace will be heading to the Europa League, despite their Premier League mid-table ranking. A massive double achievement for the Eagles to enjoy.

For Manchester City, they must swallow the fact that they have been unsuccessful in all major competitions and continue to work towards finishing the season with a top-five Premier League finish.

Currently, in the Premier League, City have been pushed down to sixth place while they were participating in FA Cup duties, but will take on Bournemouth on Tuesday evening to make their way back up.

A 1-0 win for Chelsea over Manchester United and a 2-0 victory for Aston Villa over Tottenham secured them three points each, and they made their way onto fourth and fifth. While Newcastle place on third, and Arsenal have confirmed their top-five finish and almost their second-place spot as well.

A disappointing loss for Manchester City, but they must move on and learn from their downfall if they are to win six of their remaining points and secure a top-five position.

Pep Guardiola on the FA Cup gloom

"Congratulations to Crystal Palace on their first FA Cup. It is history."

"We played better than the Southampton game, we were more active, and I would say we were really good in many things ."

"The gameplan didn't work because we didn't win but I didn't have any regrets."

"Now we rest and recover quick for the last two finals to qualify for the Champions League."

"We have to come back. We have to live it. It's better to play against Bournemouth having won the FA Cup, because winning helps winning, but now we have to prove how strong we are."
