Manchester City's chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak is looking ahead to the new FIFA Club World Cup competition, as he states the importance that this tournament holds.

Manchester City ended their campaign in the Premier League last Sunday, where a 2-0 win over secured their third-place finish after a series of disappointments, but attaining third spot in the PL saw the Sky Blues finish on a positive note.

Now, they have a break ahead of them where the main focus will be on the opening of the Summer transfer window, as there has been big talk about outgoing and incoming names to build up the squad. What happens regarding these situations will be seen when the window opens up.

But, for the first time, the new tournament of the Club World Cup will get underway in the middle of June and end a month later. Many might have wondered how Manchester City will treat this competition, if it will be just a pre-season batch of games without much importance or if they will go all out to become the first world champions to claim the new trophy.

For Manchester City, their chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has confirmed what he believes his club's stance will be going into it.

"This is a very, very serious competition. In the summer, the whole world will be watching this. And I can assure you, we're going to give it our best shot. We're going in there to win it."

"We're going to go and try to win this tournament. You know, we take some rest. The team will take the rest that they will take right now, and then start pre-season and then immediately straight into the Club World Cup."

"It's coming up very fast. Very, very fast. It's going to be a great addition."
