Manchester City have secured their top-five finish in the Premier League, as their campaign comes to a close after a 2-0 win against Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester City faced a tough battle for the Premier League top five, as the race went all the way down to the very last match weekend, with four other clubs also fighting for one of the remaining three spots.

Despite even a draw being enough to seal their place, the Cityzens' final fixture saw Ilkay Gundogan and Erling Haaland's goals earn the important 2-0 victory over Fulham, which sealed their third-place rank and also, their Champions League qualification.

Alongside them, it was Newcastle and Chelsea who booked their places on fourth and fifth, while the two other contenders Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest had to take sixth and seventh, just slightly missing out by a few points in getting their task done.

A much-needed and positive result for Manchester City, who will be pleased they were able to achieve a top-five position. And a good way for club legend Kevin De Bruyne to depart, as the Belgian played his final match while helping to secure his now-former team's crucial job.

Pep Guardiola's reaction to the top-five finish

"We never gave up. It's tough, especially the players, even in the incredible difficulties were there, and finishing third is nice."

"It's not perfect, but we'll be in Europe. Today, people maybe don't believe me, but it's a happy day for all of us."

"Sometimes the challenges are dependant on the difficulties, this season there have been a lot. We played an incredible FA Cup final, in football you can lose, but we were there."

"We needed to prove ourselves, and we did that. It made me feel they still have something inside, they still have pride and they want to play the best in Europe. They proved it. That's why I'm really pleased."
