The UEFA Champions League quarter-finals saw their first legs completed this week, with the eight remaining teams all battling it out for a place in this season's semi-finals.

The four quarter-final anticipated fixtures got started on Tuesday and Wednesday night, with the return legs to arrive a week later. While the final four haven't been decided just yet, we have a much clearer picture of who those semi-finalists could be after the first matches saw every 90 minutes end with a team having an advantage to take with them.

The quarter-final ties saw Real Madrid meet Arsenal, Barcelona draw Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich take on Inter Milan, and Aston Villa encounter Paris Saint-Germain.

Going into the first installment of these matches, the favourites were named as La Liga duo Barcelona and Real Madrid to go on and claim the biggest club honour at the end of May.

However, after seeing these first legs, it's possible some minds may have changed in terms of picking the top contenders.

But, the second legs still have everything to play for, for both the winning and losing sides in these matchups. And on a European night, anything can be possible.
