The women's European Championships featured its semi-finals this week, where four nations remained in with a chance to book their place in Sunday's upcoming final.

The Women's Euros is reaching its near end, as the final approaches this Sunday, where the two countries will battle to become champions.

The two fixtures that decided which two teams would remain were matchups between England and Italy, then Germany vs Spain.

Both matches provided the ultimate drama, right until the very last moment. Both contests were extremely close and could have gone either way, but we are left with the two best of the tournament, and this weekend, we will discover who will claim the title.

Let's take at the results during this week and who the final will be between.

Results

England 2-1 Italy (AET)

Germany 0-1 Spain (AET)

Both matches needed to go to an additional 30 minutes to find their winners. For the Lionesses, it was quite the story that unfolded as it took all the way until the 96th minute to equalise and make it 1-1, denying Italy despite being only a few minutes left.

Extra time saw something similar as in the 119th minute, Chloe Kelly scored the winning goal, giving England a 2-1 victory and place in this year's final.

For Germany and Spain, they could not be separated in the normal 90 minutes. Like the night prior, extra time was to be played. With a little more than five minutes left to play, the goal finally came. And it came for Spain. Late heartbreak for Germany, but triumph for Spain.

The final

England vs Spain - Sunday, the 27th of July at 17:00 (UK)

A repeat of the FIFA Club World Cup from the last edition of the competition, when Sapin managed a 1-0 win to become world champions. And also, the same final the men had in their last Euros, where Spain surpassed England 2-1.

Two of the competition's biggest favourites right from the start have made their way to its conclusion, and one of them will walk away from Switzerland as the victorious side.
