Manchester City and Kevin De Bruyne are set to part ways at the end of the 24/25 season, leaving the Belgian midfielder with only a few matches left before his exit.

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne will be ending his decade-long stay with the Sky Blues next month, after confirming his departure in an emotional Instagram post a few weeks ago.

De Bruyne has become one of the most crucial names within this club during his time, helping Man City on their way to winning multiple Premier League titles, FA Cup trophies and also the UEFA Champions League.

Now, the player has expressed his aim to earn City a Champions League spot for next season, sharing his hope that he can leave the club knowing they'll return to Europe's biggest competition next term.

Kevin De Bruyne stated after the team's 5-2 victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday,

"I want to go away with a Champions League place for this team because they deserve it. I hope we can do that for the team next year, and I'll just try to play good football."

For Manchester City, while they still remain within a chance of ending this season with silverware, as they prepare for an FA Cup semi-final with Nottingham Forest, winning that competition won't secure them a UCL place; instead would do so in the Europa League.

To book their place in the Champions League, Manchester City must end the season in the top five. The aim is no longer only being top four after Arsenal's 3-0 win over Real Madrid awarded the Premier League an extra spot.

Currently, Man City are fifth place after their vital 5-2 victory over Crystal Palace on the weekend. Nottingham Forest are two points ahead, and Newcastle are one point ahead. Chelsea's draw with Ipswich Town see them one point behind the Cityzens, while Aston Villa have the same number of points as Chelsea and are on seventh.

There are six matches remaining for Man City to accomplish their task and Kevin De Bruyne is determined to do so before he says goodbye.

Manchester City next take on Everton this upcoming weekend, where a potential three points would strengthen their stay in the top five.
