The FIFA Club World Cup is reaching its anticipated conclusion, as the grand final approaches this weekend.

The Club World Cup started almost a month ago, when 32 teams all arrived with a chance of becoming world champions. Now, they remain only two.

The conclusion of the tournament takes place this Sunday, the 13th of July at 20:00 (UK). The winner of this match will take the title and claim the trophy.

During the competition, we have seen many talking points, from shock eliminations to top-quality performances. It definitely brightened up the start of summer.

Let's take a look at what this Club World Cup had in store for us.

Group Stage recap

During the first round, we started off with eight groups made up of the 32 clubs from across the world. The top two from each group all qualified, some after playing two matches and some after playing all three.

Auckland City were utterly destroyed by Bayern Munich when the German side put 10 past them.

European champions Paris Saint-Germain opened their account with a 4-0 victory over Atlético Madrid.

Manchester City and Juventus were in the same group and both blew their other opponents away. When they met with the chance to win their group, Manchester City won the match 5-2 and won the group.

The Brazilian sides were on fire. Palmerias, Botafogo, Fluminense and Flamengo all kept up with European opposition and made it to the next stage.

The round of 16 recap

Palmerias and Botafogo had an all-Brazilian encounter and went all the way to extra time to find a winning goal. It was Palmerias to found themselves the winner.

Al Hilal and Manchester City had an absolute mouth-watering match when the Saudi Arabian side eliminated Manchester City after a 4-3 win in extra time.

Fluminense defeated Inter Milan 2-0 and made their way to the last eight.

The quarter-final recap

Fluminense and Al Hilal went head to head after big successes in their prior matches. Fluminense secured a 2-1 win.

The same score was repeated by Chelsea when they beat Palmeiras.

A European clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich had much drama from start to finish. However, the result ended in a 2-0 score for Paris Saint-Germain.

The semi-final recap

Fluminense's time in the Club World Cup came to an end after they were defeated 2-0 by Chelsea. Despite probably not being high on the list of favourites for the competition, Chelsea have made a statement.

Another major European game took place as Paris Saint-Germain took on Real Madrid. A rather shocking score-line saw the current Champions League holders breeze to a 4-0 win and knock out Real Madrid, while staying in contention for the title.

The upcoming final

We are in for a treat as the final is only a few days away. Paris Saint-Germain vs Chelsea will be the match to decide who takes the world title after an intense month of unforgettable football.
