The UEFA Champions League had its third matchday, as more massive fixtures were completed and crucial results were claimed.

The Champions League has had its third matchday, where there were vital fixtures taking place.

With the league phase consisting of eight matchdays, there have now been three all done. The League phase’s standings mean the top eight will qualify for the next round, while nine to 24th will have to go through an extra round to find their way over to the other eight. And, below that, will be elimination.

So, even though it's only a few matches in, every result is crucial for every side’s aim of going far in this contest.

Among the matches that were shown on the third match day, there was Chelsea vs Ajax, Villarreal vs Manchester City, PSV vs Napoli, and Galatasaray vs Bodo/Glimt, to name a few.

The next matchday will be taking place on the 4th and 5th of November, so not long until more games are here.

There were some massive results, especially for Paris Saint-Germain with their 7-2 win against Leverkusen, Chelsea defeating Ajax 5-1, PSV claiming a 6-2 victory over Napoli and Liverpool defeating Frankfurt 5-1.

Elsewhere, Benfica and Ajax remain without points.

And Manchester City, Athletic Club and Galatasaray all got positive victories.
