The UEFA Champions League had its sixth matchday take place, where more massive fixtures saw big results.
The Champions League’s sixth matchday has taken place, and the games had crucial results.
The league phase consists of eight matchdays, meaning there are two left now before the placements in the standings are decided. Whoever claims first to eighth will automatically advance to the next round, while ninth to 24th will have to go through an extra round in order to qualify. Any other number means elimination.
Going into these fixtures, the top eight had Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Dortmund, Chelsea and Sporting included.
While these sides looked to keep their places, others were aiming to take over and boost their chances of automatic qualification. And, as we know, nothing in the Champions League is ever easy, making these tasks just as tough as the other.
For others, their aim was to get enough points to keep themselves in the competition.
Among the matches, there was Chelsea taking on Atalanta, Copenhagen meeting Villarreal, and Manchester City vs Real Madrid, to name some.
As we reach closer to discovering which 24 sides will remain in the UCL, these league phase matches become even more vital.
Let’s take a look at the results from the matchday and how the standings now look for everyone.
