Lauren Hemp is looking ahead to Manchester City's upcoming 24/25 season and she discussed her new teammate, Vivianne Miedema.
Manchester City Women's new season is only a few months away, and after missing out on all trophies available to them last season, the most difficult loss came as their Women's Super League title failure which came due to goal difference on the final day, the team is now determined to have a successful outcome this time around.
Man City signed Vivianne Miedema from one of their biggest title rivals Arsenal.
Vivianne commits to a three-year contract with the Cityzens, and Lauren Hemp has expressed her delight to have the Dutch player within the squad.
"I've met her a lot and come up against her on the pitch," Hemp went on to say that she already sees the pair as friends, "But hopefully that relationship will get even stronger going into the season. I think she'll be a great addition to the team. She's a player who can do it all and who I've looked up to for a long time."
"Obviously, we've got a fellow Dutchie in Jill Roord, she's been a pivotal player in our squad, so hopefully Viv will be able to do the same."
Lauren then moved on to talk about the upcoming Women's Super League season and also how missing out last time is making the team more eager in achieving it this time, "I'm really excited. Coming so close but not quite doing it, I think that makes you more hungry to go on and succeed in the future, and I want to do that this season. I desperately wanted to last season, but, unfortunately, it didn't go that way."
"The fixture list has just come out, so I'm really excited and obviously we've got a big game (Arsenal day one) at the first game in the season which should be a good one. I'm really excited and I think we've got a great squad to go on to achieve good things."
Manchester City will return to Women's Super League action on the 22nd of September. This season, they will not only have an opportunity to win the FA Cup and Conti Cup along with the League but also the chance of claiming the Champions League. They will have to go through a qualification round to secure a place in the 24/25 group stage.
This next season will have big expectations for Man City, considering how close they came last time, they have proven they are more than capable of achieving great things. However, there are a lot of things that require improvements if they are to surpass the likes of Chelsea.
Vivienne Miedema's arrival to the Man City squad will be seen as an exciting addition. With this Man City team already filled with bundles of talent, such as top scorer Bunny Shaw, Mary Fowler and Chloe Kelly, could this new season be one that sees Manchester City rise to the top?
