Alas, the 2023/2024 season is near its end. April 2024 was a period of mixed results for Manchester City. The Sky Blues gained momentum in the English Premier League title race, where they are one point behind current league leaders Arsenal. The Mancunians, however, have a game in hand over the Londoners. In addition, Manchester City defeated Chelsea in the FA Cup Semi-Final.

Despite these successes, Manchester City were eliminated from UEFA Champions League contention for the remainder of this season. They were defeated by Real Madrid in the quarter-finals after losing a penalty shootout. The Sky Blues will be disappointed with this result, but they have adjusted well elsewhere to ensure that the season is not a complete loss.

May 2024 will be the deciding factor for how well the Mancunians have performed this month. They will play five matches across two competitions. (Coincidentally, three of these last five matches are against London teams.) Win all five games, and they will secure a domestic double by retaining the EPL title and the FA Cup. Lose any of these matches, and the Sky Blues could become trophyless by the end of the season.

Manchester City begin this crucial period by hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, 4th May. The Sky Blues were previously shocked by Wolves earlier this season when they earned a shocking loss at Molineux Stadium. This time around, City know that they cannot afford to make any additional mistakes as doing so will cost them the EPL title. With the previous game on their mind, the Sky Blues will look to deliver against Wolves as they host them at the Etihad Stadium.

One week later, Manchester City will travel to Fulham on Saturday, May 11th as they continue their quest to retain the EPL title. The Cottagers troubled the Sky Blues last season, where they were difficult to break down. City have also not been as dominant in away games as they have been in previous seasons. Thus, it will be curious to see how they perform in this fixture.

After this game, Manchester City will remain in London as they face Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, 14th May. Previous results at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium suggest that this will be a difficult affair. Since its completion in 2019, Manchester City have failed to score a goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Premier League fixtures. The Sky Blues have also yet to earn a single point at the stadium and given this history, the Mancunians will need to come up with a way to defeat the Londoners in this fixture. Otherwise, if they are unable to overcome these bad omens, then they will surely lose the title.

Manchester City will then conclude the 2023/2024 EPL campaign with a match at home on Sunday, 19 May against West Ham United. The Sky Blues and Hammers have previously put on entertaining matches in the past, and this shall be no different, especially if the Sky Blues have the title at stake on the final day of the season.

After this run of EPL fixtures, Manchester City will face Manchester United in the FA Cup Final on Saturday, 25 May. This will be a rematch of last year's final, where the Sky Blues defeated the Red Devils 2-1. Having previously defeated their crosstown rivals in the same event last year, Manchester City will hope to replicate this success.

In short, May 2024 will be a very demanding month for Manchester City. Should they win all five of their remaining fixtures this season, then they will secure a domestic double. Success and victory are within their grasp, but the Sky Blues will need to be determined that they can secure these results, otherwise, after fighting and working hard for such a long period this season, their efforts could result in nothing.

How many trophies will Manchester City win by the end of the 2023/2024 season? Time will tell how the Sky Blues will fare by the end of the month
