Manchester City duo to miss Aston Villa encounter
Manchester City will play its next match against Aston Villa on Wednesday evening without two of its key players.
Two City midfielders received their fifth warning this season during the exciting 3-3 draw on Sunday against Tottenham, and they will miss the trip to Villa Park in the fifteenth round of the English Premier League.
The suspensions will be a blow to Pep Guardiola's team, given Villa's level at home so far this season, and the defending champions head into the confrontation three points behind Arsenal at the top of the table.
Rodri, who has already served a three-match suspension this season - received a yellow card due to a naive foul on Tottenham full-back Pedro Porro.
Meanwhile, Jack Grealish also received a yellow card for kicking the ball away during a stoppage in play, which means he will miss the match with his former club.
Rodri received a red card against Nottingham Forest last September, and City suffered greatly in his absence, as Guardiola's team lost all three matches against Wolverhampton and Newcastle (League Cup) and its title rival, Arsenal.
Rodri participated in 150 matches in the English Premier League since joining Manchester City in 2019 and has missed only 16 matches. In those matches, the team lost 6 times.
The defending champion has a suitable alternative to Grealish in Jeremy Doku, but the England international made a big impact with a goal from the bench against Tottenham.
