Manchester City have a hectic schedule in December 2023. How will they fare this month?
November 2023 was a mixed month for Manchester City. During this period, the Sky Blues participated in two competitions. They had three matches in the English Premier League and two matches in the UEFA Champions League. City was victorious in one of their three EPL matches and drew the other two. Meanwhile, the Sky Blues won both of their Champions League matches, meaning they have won their qualification group, and they will advance to the competition’s knockout stages next year.
This month, the Sky Blues will have a hectic schedule. Over the course of 31 days, they will have at least eight matches. Manchester City will begin December with a home game against Tottenham Hotspur on December 3rd. An entertaining fixture in recent years, Spurs have given the Sky Blues issues over the years. Last season, City were trailing 0-2 at halftime at home before turning things around and winning the match 4-2.
Manchester City will play Aston Villa, Luton Town, and Crystal Palace over the span of ten days. The Sky Blues will first face the Villains on December 6th before the match against the Hatters on December 10th. City will then host Palace on December 16th.
Sandwiched in between these fixtures is also City’s Champions League game against Czverna Zvezda. Having already won the group, it is likely the Sky Blues will travel with a younger squad, as City have already qualified for the competition’s knockout stages.
Manchester City will then begin the festive period by appearing in their first FIFA Club World Cup. The Sky Blues will enter the competition’s semi-final, which will be played on December 19. They will either face Mexican club León or Japanese team Urawa Red Diamonds. Should City be victorious, they would then play in the competition’s final on December 22. (The third-place match will also be played on December 22.)
After the FIFA Club World Cup, Manchester City will then return to the EPL, where they will face Everton. The Toffees were once a bogey team, whereas the Sky Blues previously struggled at Goodison Park. City, in recent seasons, have started to earn good results on the ground, but anything is still possible in football. Finally, Manchester City will finish the year with a match home match against Sheffield United.
