Manchester City claimed a 3-1 victory over Everton on Wednesday evening, with goals from Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez, and Bernardo Silva all coming in the second half.

For their penultimate fixture of 2023 ending in victory despite going into halftime a goal down, the Cityzens will be more than pleased to have added three points to the League table.

A few days before, City were crowned winners of the FIFA Club World Cup after defeating Fluminense 4-0. One of the goalscorers of that result and their latest against Everton, Phil Foden, who spoke with the Manchester City official website.

"I thought we played well in the first half; it seemed to be the same story as the previous games. We have to believe in ourselves because we are a top team; We haven't got this gold badge for no reason."

"In the second half, wow, I think we blew them away with how we played."

"We needed that goal for momentum (1-1, Phil Foden), and then we blew them away and played tremendous football, so I'm happy. Really happy with the result. "

After discussing the team's well-earned victory, Foden moved on to talk about one of his teammates and also one of the scorers against Everton, Bernardo Silva: "He's a tremendous footballer, one of the best I've ever seen. He's not the biggest or strongest, but the way he uses his brain in the game, he's someone I always try to learn from."

"We've got massive players to come back in: Erling (Haaland), Jeremy (Doku), Kevin (De Bruyne). When they come back, hopefully, it'll make the team stronger. We need them at the moment because we're a bit short at the moment; I'm looking forward to when they come back."

Manchester City have one fixture remaining before the arrival of 2024 and comes against Sheffield United on Saturday, the 30th, at 15:00 (UK).
