Manchester City won their first game of the UEFA Champions League 24/25 season on Tuesday night, as they comfortably beat Slovan Bratislava 4-0, to add three points to their one point on the league table.
After starting the Champions League with a 0-0 encounter against Inter Milan, Man City took one point to add to the new League table. Matchday two arrived on Tuesday evening, and Manchester City breezed past Slovan Bratislava with a 4-0 scoreline.
Ilkay Gundogan got the game started for the Cityzens, finding the back of the net only eight minutes in. Phill Foden then doubled the score a few minutes later, which ultimately took the Sky Blues into the second half 2-0 up.
Erling Haaland got himself his first Champions League goal of the season, and McAtee added to make it four goals to none.
Phil Foden, who not only scored the second goal of the evening but also provided an assist to help strengthen the scoreline, reflected on his performance and the team's on matchday two.
Phil Foden on Man City's 4-0 win
"I don't think it was easy, I think it was tough to break them down. You have to give them respect, like I said it was difficult to break them down."
"We did the job in the end and managed to find the space but it was difficult at times. I had plenty of chances to score and a few other lads did too. On another night, it could have been more goals but we're delighted with 4-0."
"For myself, it's been a bit of a slow start to the season so it's nice to get back out and score. I'm feeling okay now, back at it. I'm very happy with the performance, I know there are still things I can work on and get better. I'm still a little bit rusty. Like I said, I'm happy with my performance and the team's performance."
After three consecutive draws in a row for Manchester City, they have returned to winning ways in exceptional style to secure three vital points.
