With Ederson injured for what is reported to be a month, Stefan Ortega will be Manchester City's goalkeeper while Ederson is recovering.
City signed Ortega for 6 million euros from Arminia Bielefeld after an impressive season with the German side. Even though Ortega was signed last season, his stats indicate that he has been a good signing for the cityzens, with 12 clean sheets in 24 appearances.
This argues that he will be able to fill in for Ederson for the next month, and depending on how well he does, he will continue to play even after Ederson returns. It is also rumoured that Pep initially planned on using Stefan more at the start of the season, maybe even as our first-choice goalkeeper.
It should also be mentioned that if Pep thought we should sign Ortega, then that must be because he has enough quality to play for us. Ortega has improved whilst at City, which is probably due to his playing style fitting into the play style at City.
This is because he is more of a modern keeper. This is based on the fact that he is comfortable on the ball and is happy to come out of the box to support the defence when we are in possession, which Pep clearly enjoys having in his team. He is also skilful at distributing the ball, which Ederson is well known for.
Many would have been worried that their usual starting keeper would be out for a while, but these arguments are all convincing, saying that Stefan Ortega is ready to fill in during the next month of matches.
Manchester City's next opponent is Newcastle United in the FA Cup, which will prove to be a difficult match, with both sides meeting each other three times prior to this weekend. City have secured two wins thus far, both being incredibly close. Newcastle have also claimed one victory over the Cityzens, which came in the FA League Cup, resulting in City's elimination.
Stefan Ortega does have a big responsibility in this game as Man City attempts to win the FA Cup again.
