Is Kalvin Phillips leaving Man City as Champions League club expresses interest?
By Hidayah Ali
Kalvin Phillips looks to be on his way out of Manchester City in the next few weeks, as reports have emerged suggesting the player's desire to leave the club.
It's very clear that Kalvin Phillips's life at Manchester City hasn't gone the way either side would have been hoping for when he signed on from Leeds United back a few seasons ago.
Phillips has failed to make an impression with the Premier League champions during his stay and even went on loan to West ham for half of last season.
Now Phillips has returned to the Manchester club, and it seems as if his stay will be over shortly as reports suggest the player wants a permanent departure from the club.
This comes as no surprise considering there haven't been any improvements in the situation of Kalvin's future remaining at Manchester City, and it does look as if an exit would be the ideal scenario for both sides.
A recent report from Manchester Evening News has told us that Aston Villa is interested in acquiring Kalvin's signature, but they have only sent forward a loan request, which goes against the official move that Phillips wanted.
So far, Aston Villa has been the only real interest in taking Kalvin Phillips on for next season, but Manchester City's heavy hopes in having the player make a permanent exit from the squad may take a toll on the potential move to the Villains.
There still remains time before the end of the summer transfer window, so City's only option doesn't have to likely just be Aston Villa, as other clubs could start to express interest in becoming Phillips's new team.
As for Manchester City, Phillips is just one of the names that has been linked with a possible move away from the club, with others coming as Joao Cancelo, Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson.
For the Belgian midfielder, his time at Manchester City does look as if it will continue for the upcoming season, while Ederson's situation could also be said the same, however, his current position still remains unofficial, and for Joao Cancelo, another loan would be highly likely but considering the time he player has sent away on loan deals, it could be thought that it's time for a permanent move.
Aston Villa could be the ideal next club for Phillips, but Man City will be pushing for a transfer than a loan deal. There is still more than one month of this transfer window left, and Kalvin Phillip's place within Manchester City will soon be determined.
