Manchester City look to be in trouble as Rodri's injury could prevent him from participating in the team's upcoming matches, with the club providing an update on how serious the injury seems to be.
Picking up a knock in the game against Arsenal, the club has confirmed that Rodri has picked up a ligament injury that could look to keep him sidelined until further notice potentially.
In a statement provided by Manchester City themselves, they wrote:
"The injury was sustained during the first half of this weekend's 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League. The midfielder travelled to Spain to seek specialist consultation this week, following initial tests in Manchester. Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the injury and expected prognosis. Everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery"
To end the statement, they said that the website will continue to provide updates about Rodri going further.
There is no doubt that this will bring worry to his teammates and especially Pep Guardiola, who has come to rely on Rodri immensely since his arrival at the club.
The midfielder's presence has become one of the most vital within the squad, which is even proven statistically as City's win rate with Rodri is 74%, however when he is not involved it drops down to a 55% win rate. Very noticeable difference in those numbers.
While Rodri's absence may not last for months on end, it does look as if Manchester City will have to play a significant amount of games without the Spaniard.
With so many upcoming vital commitments in the Premier League and the Champions League, this situation is far from ideal as Manchester City aim to continue winning games.
The Sky Blues got off to the perfect start in the Premier League, winning four matches on the bounce. They did fail to secure a victory in their fifth game, but a draw with Arsenal can be taken in a positive manner.
In the Champions League, they have only played one matchday and they ended it with a 0-0 draw against Inter Milan, an opponent that Rodri is very familiar with as he scored the Champions League-winning goal against them back in 2023.
Manchester City have also started the English Football League Cup on Tuesday evening, claiming a 2-1 win over Watford due to goals from Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes.
Many will be hoping that Rodri will be back on the pitch as soon as possible, but we will have to wait for further updates from the club or the player, and then the situation will become a little clearer.
