Manchester City are preparing for a clash against Newcastle United on Saturday evening, and while many were still wondering if Erling Haaland will return to the squad for tomorrow, Pep Guardiola has answered that question: no.
Picking up an injury at the beginning of December, Haaland hasn't managed to feature in any game since, and it looks like fans will have to wait a bit longer for their striker to return.
During his press conference, Guardiola told the situation of the players that won't be able to take part against Newcastle: "Erling (Haaland) and John (Stones) are out. Jack (Grealish) has been sick, hopefully today he'll be back. That's all."
The manager of the treble-winning club also mentioned Kevin De Bruyne, who made his long-awaited return to the pitch after months of injury, "I saw him yesterday; he feels good. He played good, better than the sessions before Huddersfield. It was five months, and he was high and low in training as he recovered, which is normal, but he's getting better."
Fans will hope to see De Bruyne have some playing time on Saturday, as starting the game seems quite unlikely just yet. Last week he was brought on at the 57th minute, and quickly bagged his first assist of the 23/24 season just 17 minutes in.
And while many are delighted to have the midfieder back in the squad, now it remains to be seen when goal-scorer Haaland will make a comeback after more than a month out.
Newcastle vs Manchester City takes place at 17:30 (UK) on Saturday, the 13th.
